CoinGecko Listing: Total & Circulating Supply API Endpoints
A CoinGecko listing application asks for supply data that CoinGecko can check on its own. Here is how to prepare supply endpoints that hold up in review and keep your token page accurate after listing.
What CoinGecko uses your supply data for
- Market cap and rank are calculated from circulating supply.
- Fully diluted valuation is based on total or max supply.
- Review compares your figures with on-chain data and your published tokenomics. Numbers that don't match slow the process down.
Step 1: Map your tokenomics to wallets
Before creating any URL, list every allocation and the wallet that holds it. Then decide which allocations are not yet circulating.
| Allocation (example) | Amount | Wallet | Circulating? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team, vesting | 150,000,000 | Team wallet | No |
| Treasury | 200,000,000 | Treasury wallet | No |
| Ecosystem fund | 100,000,000 | Ecosystem wallet | No |
| Public, liquidity, airdrop | 550,000,000 | Distributed | Yes |
| Total supply | 1,000,000,000 | Circulating: 550,000,000 |
The wallets marked "No" are the ones you register as major holder wallets. As tokens leave them, circulating supply rises.
Step 2: Create the endpoints
- Register the project in CMCEndpoint: chain, symbol, contract address, decimals.
- Add the non-circulating wallets from Step 1.
- Test the responses in the dashboard.
Total: https://api.cmcendpoint.com/token/{token-id}/total
Circulating: https://api.cmcendpoint.com/token/{token-id}/circulating
Step 3: Paste the URLs into the application
Enter the total and circulating URLs in the supply fields of the CoinGecko form. The same URLs work for your CoinMarketCap listing request.
Common reasons supply data gets questioned
- The URL returns an error page or requires a login.
- Circulating supply equals total supply even though team tokens are still locked.
- A fixed number that never changes after unlocks.
- Decimals not applied, so the figure is 1018 times too large.
- Figures that differ from the whitepaper or tokenomics page.
FAQ
Do I need different URLs for CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap?
No. The same total and circulating supply URLs can be submitted to both platforms.
My token has no locked wallets. Do I still need a circulating supply endpoint?
Yes. In that case circulating supply equals total supply, and the endpoint simply reports it.
Can I test the endpoints before submitting?
Yes. The dashboard lets you test responses, and a sandbox with sample data is available.
How much does it cost?
It's free.
